Connecting Today.
Powering Tomorrow.
The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the heart of Ontario's power system. The IESO delivers key services across the electricity sector including: managing the power system in real-time, planning for the province's future energy needs, enabling conservation and designing a more efficient electricity marketplace to support sector evolution.
Long Lead-Time RFP
The Long Lead-Time Request for Proposals (LLT RFP) has launched. This competitive procurement for new-build hydroelectric and long duration energy storage resources that require at least five years to develop will help secure the supply needed to support economic development, population growth and electrification in the 2030s and beyond. Learn more about the procurement on the LLT RFP page.
Long-Term 2 RFP
The first window of the Second Long-Term Request for Proposals has completed. Under the capacity stream, the IESO has offered contracts to three new-build battery storage facilities. These projects will add 640 MW of capacity to Ontario’s grid. Learn more about the successful projects on the LT2 RFP page.
