Conservation First

Conservation First is a guiding principle that will help Ontario remain a leading jurisdiction in energy conservation. The new six-year Conservation First Framework is designed to reduce electricity consumption by seven terawatt-hours (TWh) or seven billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) by December 31, 2020.

The Framework will provide a streamlined approach for LDCs to design province-wide and local Save on Energy programs for customers; an energy efficiency target based on achievable potential in the LDC service territory; and the flexibility to allocate a six year budget as they see fit for cost-effective delivery of programs.
