LRP II RFQ Process Cancellation – September 27, 2016
Further to the Minister of Energy’s September 27, 2016, direction announcing the government’s intention to suspend the Large Renewable Procurement, the IESO is cancelling the LRP II RFQ process and will not be commencing the subsequent LRP II RFP process. Additional details will be provided over the coming days to RFQ Applicants regarding the next steps associated with the cancellation of the LRP II RFQ process.
Final LRP II RFQ Materials Posted – July 29, 2016
The IESO has posted
final materials for the LRP II Request for Qualifications (RFQ), including the final LRP II RFQ and all associated Prescribed Forms. The LRP II RFQ has undergone minor revisions based on the comments received during the draft RFQ period. A blackline of the changes (from draft to final) has been posted, along with a summary of the key feedback themes and the IESO’s responses. These and all other posted materials are available in the

direction, the IESO is exploring opportunities to procure additional generation resulting from technological upgrades to and optimization of existing renewable generation facilities. The IESO is interested in receiving feedback on the types of technologies that could be considered for inclusion in LRP II, procurement considerations for these technologies, contract considerations and any other relevant information. Therefore, following the morning Technical Session, the IESO will host a short breakout session specifically on technological upgrades and optimization. Interested parties can register by contacting

Draft LRP II RFQ Posted for Review and Feedback

The IESO has posted the draft Request for Qualifications (LRP II RFQ) and associated Prescribed Forms for review and comment. The draft LRP II RFQ builds on the LRP I RFQ, as well as on feedback received on all aspects of the LRP I process and reflects the policy direction from the Minister of Energy outlined in the
April 5, 2016, and
June 10, 2016 directions.
Comments and feedback on the draft LRP II RFQ and the associated Prescribed Forms can be provided via email to

IESO Responses to LRP Feedback
The IESO appreciates the feedback received in response to the LRP Feedback Survey, which was available between April 12, 2016, and May 3, 2016. Feedback was also received during the April 12, 2016, webinar, and over the course of the LRP I process. All feedback has been reviewed and has been posted to the LRP Engagement page, below. The IESO has summarized the feedback under key themes and has provided a document outlining how the feedback will be considered by the IESO over the course of LRP II:

Planned Connection Availability Technical Session
The IESO will be hosting an in-person and web-enabled session in Toronto with interested parties to discuss technical issues affecting LRP II. The session will focus on the connection testing process and assumptions, and IESO Planning staff will be in attendance. Details of the session and registration information will be provided shortly. An initial LRP II TS and Circuit TAT table will be posted prior to the session in conjunction with a discussion paper on a proposed approach to providing detailed connection availability information over the course of LRP II.

Following the comment period for the draft LRP II RFQ (ending July 14, 2016), the IESO will finalize the LRP II RFQ. The final LRP II RFQ will be launched by August 1, 2016.
