Ontario Electricity Demand

Here are the results of the efforts of Ontario homeowners and businesses to reduce electricity use between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on March 28, 2009.

This graph compares the actual electricity demand against the demand on a typical Saturday with similar weather in order to determine the maximum amount of electricity saved in megawatts (MW) during Earth Hour in Ontario.

March 28 The IESO tonight reported that Ontario demand was reduced by more than six per cent or 920 megawatts (MW) as a result of Earth Hour. More

March 19 Ontarians are planning to mark Earth Hour by turning out more than just their lights. The IESO's survey found that 55% of all those who intended or were willing to participate will turn off TVs and appliances. More
