Integrated Regional Resource Plan - Toronto

Regional electricity planning is underway for the Toronto region. As part of this process, an Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP) is expected to be completed in early Q3 2019.

This engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to learn more about electricity planning activities undertaken for the Toronto region and offer input for consideration into the recommendations that will be outlined in the IRRP.

Regional system planning ensures a reliable supply of electricity to all of Ontario's 21 electricity planning regions and looks at the unique needs of each, and considers conservation, generation, transmission and distribution, and innovative resources to meet these needs. This engagement initiative focuses on the development of an IRRP for the Toronto region – broader bulk transmission or local distribution planning are out of scope and are addressed under separate planning processes.

Interested parties in this engagement initiative include but are not limited to:

  • Municipalities including the City of Toronto
  • Indigenous Communities
  • Consumers and service providers for the area

All interested parties are invited to participate in this engagement initiative.

Toronto Region Working Group
- A Working Group consisting of the local distribution company in the region, the local transmitter and the IESO will be informed by this regional planning engagement initiative to seek and consider input that will help to align the electricity plan with local priorities. The Working Group consists of representatives from Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited, the transmitter Hydro One Networks Inc., and the IESO.

All comments and enquiries in this engagement initiative can be directed to engagement@ieso.ca.
