FIT 5 Application Summary - December 19, 2016
During the FIT 5 application period (November 7 to November 25, 2016), the IESO received 1,127 applications, which represent a total of 397 megawatts (MW). These applications are for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, waterpower and bioenergy) with a proposed capacity of more than 10 kilowatts (kW) and generally up to 500 kW. Of the applications received, 42 percent applied for Indigenous community participation, 14 percent applied for municipal and public sector participation and 17 percent applied for community participation. Applications are currently being reviewed by the IESO for completeness and eligibility.
Successful applicants are expected to be announced in Q3 2017. As more fully described in the FIT Rules, the IESO will award contracts to successful applicants up to the procurement target. In accordance with the December 16, 2016 direction from the Minister of Energy, the procurement target for FIT 5 is up to 150 MW.
