IESO Southwest Ontario Regional Electricity Forum Draft Agenda Available

October 4, 2018

The Southwest Ontario Regional Electricity Forum draft agenda is now available. The Southwest Forum is being held in Kitchener and will bring together a cross-section of community and business audiences representing municipalities, Indigenous communities, local distribution companies, energy services companies and associations to explore and provide input into the future direction of the electricity sector.

This year’s forum is intended to highlight local initiatives and specifically discuss how local needs and perspectives can factor into broader provincial electricity planning through two main interactive discussions:

  • Aligning Regional and Local Energy Planning – A panel discussion on how to align planning at the system, regional and community levels. Panelists will bring perspectives from a municipality, a first nation community and a local distribution company to examine how community energy planning contributes to broader provincial planning.

  • Connected Communities –Discussions to encourage diverse perspectives on community-based approaches to meeting energy needs.

Speakers include Rupp Carriveau from the University of Windsor, Rene Gatien of Waterloo North Hydro and Peter Quiring of NatureFresh Farms.

Registration is available on the Southwest Ontario Regional Electricity Forum webpage. The IESO will also be hosting an open house for registered attendees on the evening before the forum to provide information about Ontario’s electricity system and market.
