Routine voltage test scheduled for July 18
July 11, 2019
The IESO will perform a routine voltage reduction test on Thursday, July 18. Voltage reductions are tested every 18 months to simulate emergency actions available to the IESO to maintain system reliability. These tests also give consumers an opportunity to test equipment and processes before a real-time, unplanned voltage reduction.
A three per cent test will occur from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. EST followed by a five per cent test from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. EST. The results of these tests will be used to analyze and update the IESO's emergency preparedness procedures. Consumers should be unaffected during the tests as voltages will remain within specified industry standards.
More information on voltage reduction tests is available on the IESO website.
