Grid Innovation Fund invites indoor agricultural proposals, webinar to be held October 3

With the indoor agriculture sector one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity load in Ontario, the IESO’s Grid Innovation Fund is issuing a targeted call for projects focused on reducing electricity demand from indoor agriculture facilities during local and bulk system peak periods. Special consideration will be given to projects in areas where electricity infrastructure challenges related to indoor agriculture expansion are expected, or have been identified in the IESO’s planning and forecast documents.
The IESO will be accepting proposals from November 18 to February 14, 2020 and will award up to $2.5M for projects in Q2 2020. A webinar is scheduled for October 3 at 10 a.m. to answer questions, as well as seek feedback on the design of the targeted call.
