The IESO President and CEO and Leadership Team are responsible for implementing the strategic direction and initiatives for the organization in keeping with its statutory objectives. They also provide advice and recommendations to the IESO Board of Directors.

Marcia Mendes-d'Abreu

Marcia Mendes-d’Abreu is Vice President of Human Resources. In this role, Marcia is responsible for strategies to attract, engage, develop, compensate and retain IESO employees, in support of a culture of high performance.

With more than 25 years of experience across many industries, Marcia has a successful track record of leading and enabling strategic organization transformation.

Marcia was recently Senior Vice President of HR and Facilities with the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. She has also held senior HR positions with Canadian Tire Corporation, Cisco Systems Canada and GlaxoSmithKline.

Marcia holds a BA in Industrial Relations and Economics from McGill University, a MSc. in Organization Development from Pepperdine University, and a Human Resources and Compensation Committee Certified (H.R.C.C.C.), Designation 2009 from Directors College.

As an active volunteer Board Member, Marcia chairs the Human Resources Committee for Markham Stouffville Hospital and is a member of its Executive Committee. She is a former Board Member of Junior Achievement, Central Ontario, sitting on their Governance, Financial & Operations, and Executive Committees. She has been a co-chair of the Toronto CHRO Leadership Summit since 2012.
