ECB Overview

What is the Education and Capacity Building Program?

The Education and Capacity Building (ECB) Program provides funding to support awareness, education, skills, and capacity building initiatives. The program helps prepare First Nation and Métis communities and organizations to take advantage of opportunities to contribute to cleaner, more reliable and more affordable energy systems.

This program includes four areas of focus:

  • community capacity-building initiatives;
  • skill building and project-readiness training; and
  • innovative projects and initiatives relating to the ECB Program objective.

On October 19, 2020, the IESO released updated program documents for all four Indigenous Energy Support Programs, including ECB. These programs will be open for intake until 11:59 p.m. EST on November 13, 2020 for review in December 2020.

These revised programs were developed based on feedback the IESO received through engagement. For more details on the engagement process, please see the engagement web page.
