Updated FIT 5 Application Period - November 3, 2016

The FIT 5 Application Start Date, which was originally communicated as October 31, 2016, has been temporarily postponed as a result of a technical error that occurred before the Application Start Time on October 31, 2016. The technical error would have prevented applications from being submitted via an applicant’s My FIT Home Page. The issue has now been resolved and, accordingly, new dates have been selected for both the Application Start Date and the Application End Date, as follows:

The updated Application Start Date is November 7, 2016, at 11:00:00 a.m. (EPT) and the Application End Date is November 25, 2016, at 11:59:59 p.m. (EPT).

These changes have been reflected on the Defined Terms for the Current Application Period page.

Any reference to “Application Start Date” for purposes of the FIT Rules, Version 5.0.1, shall mean November 7, 2016.

FIT 5 Application Materials

The following application materials are affected by the change to the Application Start Date.

  1. Currently, per Section 3.10 of the FIT Rules, the Prescribed Form: Engineer/Architect Confirmation for Rooftop Solar Project on an Unconstructed Building is required to be dated no earlier than 30 days prior to the Application Start Date.

  2. Currently, per the Prescribed Form: Applicant Legal Name and Entity Confirmation, certain supporting evidence cannot have a production date earlier than 30 days prior to the Application Start Date.

The IESO recognizes that applicants may have completed one or both of these application material requirements in anticipation of the original Application Start Date of October 31, 2016, and now, due to the change in date, may have invalid documentation that is older than the 30-day limit.  As such, pursuant to its authority under Section 12.3(k) of the FIT Rules, the IESO is waiving the 30-day requirement in these two instances above and, accordingly, the IESO will accept (i) the Prescribed Form: Engineer/Architect Confirmation for Rooftop Solar Project on an Unconstructed Building dated no earlier than October 1, 2016, and (ii) supporting evidence provided in accordance with the Prescribed Form: Applicant Legal Name and Entity Confirmation with a production date no earlier than October 1, 2016.
