Dispatch Methodology and Processes (SE-61)

The IESO has initiated dialogue with key stakeholders to discuss both current and future dispatch issues. The initial discussions will help the IESO determine the most effective methods of gathering stakeholder input on this initiative, and help determine the issues and approach for the next phase of this initiative.

The future will see new resources with different characteristics from those currently existing in Ontario, and the IESO must ensure that the market maintains sufficient drivers to guarantee reliable and efficient load-following and dispatch capability. The IESO would also like to improve the reliability and capability of the current resources by examining existing dispatch issues.

Dispatch issues have also been discussed by the Market Surveillance Panel (MSP) in several of their bi-annual reports, including the latest report issued January 2009.
