Getting Started: Downloading Java Plug-In 1.5.0_06

If you have Java Plug-In 1.5.0_06 on your computer, you should already be able to view the charts. If you haven't, once you have downloaded the software, the charts will appear automatically each time you visit the page.

Please read the installation instructions carefully to ensure that the download does not affect other systems on your computer.

You will need to download the Java Plug-In 1.5.0_06 even if you already have an earlier or a more recent version of this software on your computer. Multiple versions of this application can co-exist on your computer. Downloading and installing the software should take no more than four minutes, assuming a high-speed connection. Users with a dial-up connection should expect to take 20 minutes to download the software.

Here's what you need to do:

1. When you open the new page for the first time, you will be prompted to download the software. Click "Install" to start the process.

   

2. The next prompt will ask whether you accept the Software Licence Agreement. You will have to accept this agreement in order to download the software.

   

3. Finally, you will be asked if you want to install Google Desktop. We recommend that you do not choose this option as it could affect other functions on your computer. Unclick any selection that may appear on this screen and then click on the "Next" button to complete the installation process.

   

As the new charts are created by java applets, you will need a screen capture program to print them. You can also copy each graph to your clipboard (Alt + Print Screen) and then paste (Ctrl + V) to a word processor document such as Microsoft Word which can then be printed. You can continue to print directly from the original version of the Today's Market page.
