Homeowners and certain designated consumers currently pay tiered prices under the Regulated Price Plan (RPP) set by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).
The following rates and price thresholds apply to residential and low-volume business RPP customers during the summer months (May 1 to October 31):
Summer Regulated Price Plan Rates
Residential users
6.5 ¢/kWh for the first 600 kWh in a month
7.5 ¢/kWh for each additional kWh
Low-volume business users
6.5 ¢/kWh for the first 750 kWh in a month*
7.5 ¢/kWh for each additional kWh
* The 750 kWh threshold for these customers does not change throughout the year.
The OEB is responsible for regulating electricity prices for low-volume household and small business consumers.
It reviews these rates twice a year, to better reflect the true cost to produce electricity.
More information about the RPP is available on the OEB website.
