New local program approved Swimming Pool Efficiency Program

December 14, 2016

Toronto Hydro Electric System Limited and Oakville Hydro have received approval to implement a local program targeting residential customers that are pool owners. The Swimming Pool Efficiency Program is delivered through a midstream approach offering instant discounts for ENERGY STAR® multi-speed pool pumps (with variable frequency drives) at the point of sale. This midstream approach reduces administrative burden, and the point of sale incentive provides a cost effective solution for residential pool owners to reduce the electricity costs of pool operation.

In addition to the incentive, this program also seeks to build supply chain capability by providing training and informational material to contractors, distributors and manufacturers in the pool pump industry. The midstream delivery approach also encourages transformation of the high-efficiency pool pump market by encouraging the stocking of more efficient products by retailers.
