Anyone planning to establish or modify a connection to the IESO-controlled grid must obtain IESO approval through the Connection Assessment and Approval (CAA) process. The CAA allows the IESO to assess the impact of new or modified connections to the IESO-controlled grid on the reliability of the integrated power system.
The CAA process contains several steps that must be followed by the applicant and with the anticipated increase in electricity demand and the need to build new supply and transmission infrastructure, there will be new potential proponents who will be required to complete the CAA process.
The IESO will be conducting information sessions that will provide an overview of the key processes and activities required to reliably integrate new or modified connections into Ontario’s power system.
