Improvements Coming to the Indigenous Energy Support Program

The Indigenous Energy Support Program is being expanded upon in 2025. In addition to increasing the annual program budget by $10 million (bringing total annual support to $25 million), the Minister of Energy and Mines has asked the IESO to introduce a new funding stream to support diesel reduction activities for the nine remaining diesel-reliant remote First Nation communities.
These changes build upon the program's commitment to promote broad equitable participation in Ontario’s energy sector for First Nation and Métis communities and organizations through capacity building, energy planning and energy infrastructure development.
