Exceptional Program Performance Drives 2024 Energy Efficiency Savings Results

January 23, 2026

The IESO’s Save on Energy programs in 2024 surpassed results from the year before, driven by the exceptional performance of programs that launched during the second half of the 2021-2024 Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) Framework including Peak Perks, Targeted Greenhouse and the Instant Discounts stream of the Retrofit Program. In 2024, programs achieved 1.9 TWh of actual and committed energy savings (75 per cent above 2023), and 311 MW of peak demand savings (480 per cent above 2023).

The year 2024 marked the first full activation year for Peak Perks, with enrolment growing to more than 200,000 participants by the end of the year, contributing significantly to peak demand reductions. Thanks to participants’ contributions, verified results from Save on Energy programs saw 95,223 tonnes of annual greenhouse gas emissions avoided in 2024, representing 2 per cent of actual electricity sector GHG emissions for that year.

Demand-side management is one of the IESO’s lowest-cost resources and is critical to managing demand growth while also saving consumers money, supporting economic development and creating jobs.
