A strong leader with extensive experience in the North American energy sector and a track record of success building relationships with customers and stakeholders, Steve Baker is the former president of Union Gas, Enbridge.
Over the course of his 30-year career with Union Gas, Mr. Baker held senior executive roles in finance, business development and marketing. Mr. Baker also held the role of vice president and treasurer of Spectra Energy in Houston, where he led all treasury, capital markets and financing strategies, and co-led the merger and integration of one of the largest corporate mergers in Canada. Earlier in his career, he developed strategic growth strategies and managed customer relationships in Ontario, Quebec and the U.S. Northeast as vice president, business development and vice president, gas supply services.
Mr. Baker has chaired or been a board member of a number of professional and community organizations, including the Canadian Gas Association, Ontario Energy Association and Union Gas, as well as the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham- Kent and the Chatham-Kent Community Leaders’ Cabinet.
A certified professional accountant, he obtained both a BA (honours) in chartered professional accounting and a master in accounting degree from the University of Waterloo.
