Introducing Beacon - New IESO Contract Management Tool

What Is Beacon?

Beacon is a new tool that the IESO introduced in 2019 that enables Suppliers to manage their active FIT Contracts online. Beacon consolidates all FIT Contract information into one place and integrates the Contract management functions of the FIT program, creating a single comprehensive and secure system that allows for accurate and efficient data management.

Beacon is used to view information, manage contractual obligations, and send and receive notifications for existing FIT Contracts.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a FIT or microFIT contract. What will Beacon do for me?

Once you have completed the registration and verification processes in Beacon, you will be able to view and manage all of your active FIT and/or microFIT Contracts. This includes submitting requests related to amendments, assignments and managing contacts (i.e. multiple Suppliers and/or representatives) associated with your contracts. You will also have access to up-to-date information on your contracts in one place.

I work for an LDC. What will Beacon do for me?

This includes responding to clarification requests and receiving notifications from the IESO related to amendments and assignments. How can I access Beacon?

Detailed registration and information verification instructions have been sent to FIT and microFIT contract holders ("Suppliers") and LDCs upon Beacon’s release Log into Beacon: https://www.ieso.ca/Sector-Participants/Feed-in-Tariff-Program/Login

I had an account with the previous tool (e.g. My microFIT Homepage, My FIT Homepage). Was my information transferred to Beacon?

If you are a current FIT or microFIT Supplier, your information will be available after you have completed the registration and verification processes in Beacon. Note that you must use the email address listed on your microFIT Contract or on record with the IESO FIT Contract Management team. Once you have completed these processes, your current contracts will be available to view and you will be able to initiate requests.

If you had submitted an application for a FIT or microFIT contract, but did not receive a contract or your contract has been terminated, your application information will not be accessible in Beacon.

I am new to the FIT or microFIT Program. How do I create an account?

There are two separate roles in Beacon – the “Approver” and the “Agent.” If you have been verified by the IESO as the FIT or microFIT Supplier prior to Beacon’s release, you will automatically be considered as an “Approver” within Beacon. As an Approver, you will have the ability to add additional individuals as your “Agents” in Beacon. Once added by an Approver, an Agent will be able to view the contracts assigned to them, and can perform limited functions in certain circumstances. All actions related to the contract that are performed by Agents will be sent to the Approver(s) for sign off before being submitted to the IESO for review.
