Regulation Service Contract to Support the Niagara Hydrogen Centre

The Minister of Energy encouraged the IESO to work with OPG towards a new contract for regulation service to support the development of a low-carbon hydrogen production facility (Niagara Hydrogen Centre) adjacent to the Sir Adam Beck II generating station. In response to the Minster’s request, a new contract was executed on January 13, 2023.
The new agreement will allow OPG to use unutilized water to generate electricity exclusively for use by the Niagara Hydrogen Centre for low-carbon hydrogen production, while generating approximately one million dollars a year in savings.
