The five planning regions in the GTA and Central Ontario area includes all of the Greater Toronto Area, stretches north to Parry Sound/Muskoka, and roughly spans the area from Meaford to Minden.
The Toronto electricity planning region includes the City of Toronto as well as a small number of distribution feeders that supply customers in the City of Mississauga and City of Pickering. Indigenous communities in or near the region or that have an interest in the area are Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Six Nations of the Grand River, Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council, York Region Métis Council, and the Huron Wendat of Wendake, Quebec.

The IESO engages with local and regional communities to seek input to help inform planning activities.
The 2025 Toronto Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP) has been posted along with the IESO’s response to feedback received following the September 25 public engagement webinar. The report details several plan recommendations that together form an integrated approach that will improve reliability and resilience, while meeting Toronto’s growing electricity needs.
