The IESO has initiated a number of Long-Term procurement initiatives to meet Ontario’s emerging reliability needs; including the now concluded Expedited Long-Term Request for Proposals (E-LT1 RFP), the currently ongoing Long-Term Request for Proposals (LT1 RFP), and the upcoming proposed Long-Term 2 Request for Proposals (LT2 RFP).
This engagement will provide interested parties with an opportunity to learn about and offer input for consideration into the procurement processes as it pertains to communities.
Engaging with municipalities and Indigenous communities is integral to the success of the long-term procurement process. Engagement activities, such as information sessions, will be held with municipalities and Indigenous communities. There will also be separate, more direct sessions that will consider the unique context of each type of participant group.
This community engagement web page is supplemental to the LT RFP engagement initiative and is aimed at providing opportunities for targeted information and discussions as they relate to the specific needs of Ontario communities. The LT RFP will seek resources that can be in service between 2026 and 2028 to address global and regional needs.
Engaging with communities is an important part of maintaining a reliable electricity supply, now and in the future.
Indigenous communities are increasingly playing an active role in Ontario's energy sector in the areas of conservation, generation and new, major transmission projects.
