In March 2023, the Minister of Energy announced the launch of Ontario’s Clean Energy Credit Registry. Proceeds from the sale of Clean Energy Credits held by the IESO and OPG will be directed to the government’s Future Clean Electricity Fund. In response to the Ministry of Energy's "Powering Ontario’s Growth" initiative, the IESO was tasked with developing insights and recommendations for a Future Clean Electricity Fund (FCEF). The goals of the FCEF, include relieving the financial burden on electricity ratepayers, empowering Indigenous communities to actively participate in clean energy development, and addressing barriers to resource development.
Our engagement sessions are a collaborative effort to gather your insights. We aim to clarify key issues, strategize effective engagement, and ensure that your views shape the FCEF. Our approach is guided by principles that include alignment with priority areas identified in "Powering Ontario’s Growth," synergy with IESO resource plans, robust engagement with project developers, and a commitment to transparency and openness.
The engagement process will commence with targeted outreach in September 2023, leading to focused discussions in October, 2023. Our engagement will encompass a diverse group of stakeholders, including local distribution company, developers, transmitters, large industry electricity consumers, municipalities, and Indigenous communities.
