To ensure a reliable supply of electricity and support local growth and economic development, regional electricity planning has commenced for the Burlington to Nanticoke electrical region. This region generally encompasses the area from Haldimand County and Norfolk County going north towards the City of Burlington.
Regional planning looks at the unique needs of each region, and considers a range of options to meet the area’s needs over a 20-year period. The process will be completed in Q2 2024 with the release of three Integrated Regional Resource Plans (IRRP) for the following sub-regions: Hamilton (City of Hamilton), Brant (County of Brant and City of Brantford), and Caledonia-Norfolk (western part of Haldimand County and eastern part of Norfolk County).
We welcome your input on all aspects of this process, including anticipated community needs and priorities, and potential options for meeting this region’s future electricity needs. All interested parties are invited to participate in upcoming engagement initiatives, including but not limited to:
Local municipalities encompassed in the region: City of Burlington, City of Hamilton, Town of Oakville, City of Brantford, Brant County, Haldimand County, and Norfolk County
Indigenous communities including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Six Nations of the Grand River and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council and Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO).
