Regional electricity planning in the Peel/Halton (GTA West) was completed in July 2021 with the release of a long-term electricity plan – Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP). This engagement initiative provided communities and stakeholders with an opportunity to offer input for consideration into the development of the IRRP.

All interested parties that were invited to participate in this engagement initiative include but are not limited to:

  • Municipalities of Brampton, South Caledon, Halton Hills, Mississauga, Milton, Oakville and Burlington, and the Regional Municipalities of Halton and Peel
  • Indigenous communities including the Grand River Métis Council, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation
  • Local distribution companies (LDCs) who serve the community including Alectra Utilities, Burlington Hydro Inc., Halton Hills Hydro Inc., Hydro One Networks Inc., Milton Hydro Distribution Inc. and Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.
  • Transmitters
  • Consumers and service providers for the area

Additional details on the IESO’s plans to engage with communities and interested parties throughout this process can be found in the Engagement Plan.

Peel/Halton (GTA West) Technical Working Group- A Technical Working Group consisting of the six LDCs in the region, the local transmitter and the IESO will use this regional planning engagement initiative to consider input to develop the IRRP for the region.
