Public Information Sessions, Forecasting and Planning
The Annual Planning Outlook (APO) is the IESO’s long-term electricity forecast, released each year to provide insights into Ontario’s evolving energy needs and system planning considerations. This webpage serves as a central hub for all APO engagement sessions, including current and previous years. These engagements include sessions focused on the demand forecast and planning scenarios, as well as information about key findings following the release of the APO—offering stakeholders an opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and inform future planning efforts.

The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) is introducing the 2025 Annual Planning Outlook (APO) by presenting key findings and offering a platform for stakeholder engagement. This initiative includes two planned external engagements: the first session in October will focus on the demand forecast and uncertainties, while the second session in May 2025, following the APO’s publication, will provide a comprehensive overview of the overall APO findings. These sessions aim to facilitate questions and seek clarifications, ensuring the IESO’s planning processes are robust and inclusive.

Additional information will be provided on how various other IESO initiatives are linked to the APO, and a status update on the same. During the Q&A portion of the session, stakeholders will have an opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, and provide feedback on areas for improvement to inform development of future APOs. Stakeholders will also be encouraged to complete and submit written feedback after the session. |
